CHAPTER 567.

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commissioners of Allegany County, Maryland, to pay to certain volunteer fire companies in Allegany County, Maryland, so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) annually for their benefit, and to levy said amount on the assessable property of said county, and to provide for the date on which said payment shall be made.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Allegany County, be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) annually to the several volunteer fire companies hereinafter named, so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their benefit.

SECTION 2. Be it further enacted, that said payment shall be made on the first day of September in each and every year by the County Commissioners of Allegany County, and it shall be distributed as follows: To the Chapel Hill Hose Company No. 6 and the Cumberland Hose Company No. 1, of Cumberland, Maryland, the sum of $150.00 each; to the Frostburg Fire Department, of Frostburg, Maryland, the sum of $200.00; to the Good Will Fire Company, of Lonaconing, Maryland, the sum of $200.00; to the Potomac Fire Company No. 2 of Westernport, Maryland, the sum of $100.00; to the Midland Fire Department, of Midland, Maryland, the sum of $100.00; to the Mount Savage Fire Department, Mount Savage, Maryland, the sum of $100.00.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, that the County Commissioners of Allegany County be and the same are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to levy the said sum of one thousand dollars ($1,000) annually for the above purpose upon the assessable property of said Allegany County.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, that this Act shall take effect from the date of its passage. Approved April 10th, 1914.

CHAPTER 393.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Chapter 101 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927 and to provide for the payment by the County Commissioners of Allegany County, Maryland, to certain volunteer fire companies in Allegany County, Maryland, so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies the sum of Thirty-three Hundred ($3,300.00) Dollars annually for their benefit and for certain purposes, and to levy said amount on the assessable property of said county, and to provide for the date on which said payment shall be made.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Chapter 101 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1927 be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Allegany County be and they are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of Thirty-three Hundred ($3,300.00) Dollars annually to the several volunteer fire companies so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their benefit, said sum of money to be used by the respective fire companies for the purchase, repair or maintenance of fire-fighting equipment or for the repair, maintenance or upkeep of buildings used by the respective fire companies.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, that said payment shall be made on the first day of September in each and every year by the County Commissioners of Allegany County, and it shall be distributed as follows: To the Chapel Hill Hose Company No. 6 and the Cumberland Hose Company No. 1, of Cumberland, Maryland, the sum of $150.00 each; to the Frostburg Fire Department of Frostburg, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Good Will Fire Company, of Lonaconing, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Potomac Fire Company No. 2 of Westernport, Maryland, the sum of $525.00; The Midland Fire
Department, of Midland, Maryland, the sum of $375.00; to the Mount Savage Fire Department, of Mount Savage, Maryland, the sum of $375.00; to the Volunteer Fire Company of Barton, Barton, Maryland, the sum of $375.00.

SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, that the Commissioners of Allegany County be and the same are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to levy the said sum of Thirty-three
Hundred ($3,300.00) Dollars annually for the above purpose on the assessable property of said Allegany County. Before the County Commissioners shall be required to pay the aforesaid sums of money to the respective fire companies, the said commissioners shall have the power to require the officers of said fire companies to appear before them and show to the satisfaction of said commissioners that any sums of money paid by the said Commissioners to the said fire companies under this Act have been expended for the purposes set forth in this Act. In the event any of the fire companies hereinbefore mentioned cease to remain incorporated bodies or active fire fighting organizations, or have not used the moneys appropriated to them for the sole purposes set forth in this Act, then the County Commissioners are authorized and directed to pay to the other volunteer fire companies mentioned in this Act, in equal proportions the unexpended moneys in the hands of the said County Commissioners.

SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, that this Act shall take effect from the first day of June, 1929.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with Amendments Sections 174, 175 and 176 of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany County, " sub-title, "Fire Companies, " as said sections were amended by chapter 483 of Acts of 1937, relating to appropriations to volunteer fire companies.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Sections 174, 175 and 176 of Article 1 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Allegany County, " sub-title "Fire Companies, " as said sections were amended by Chapter 483 of the Acts of 1937, be and the same are hereby repealed and reenacted with Amendments to read as follows:

174. The County Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of $6,125.00 annually to the several volunteer fire companies so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their benefit, said sum of money to be used by the respective fire companies for the purchase, repair or maintenance of fire fighting equipment or for the repair, maintenance or upkeep of buildings used by the respective fire companies.

175. Said payment shall be made on the first day of September in each and every year by the County Commissioners of Allegany County, and it shall be distributed as follows: To the Chapel Hill Hose Company No. 6 and the Cumberland Hose Company No. 1, of Cumberland, Maryland, the sum of $150.00 each; to the Frostburg Fire Department of Frostburg, Maryland, the sum of $1,000.00; to the Good Will Fire Company of Lonaconing, Maryland, the sum of $800.00; to the Potomac Fire Company No. 2 of Westernport, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Midland Fire Department of Midland, Maryland, the sum of $500.00; to the Mount Savage Fire Department of Mount Savage, Maryland, the sum of $500.00; to the Volunteer Fire Company of Barton, Barton, Maryland, the sum of $500.00; to the Luke Fire Company, Inc., the sum of $500.00; to the La Vale Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., the sum of $500.00; to the Cresaptown Fire Department, the sum of $1500.00; to the Borden Shaft Volunteer Fire Company, No. 1,

176. The Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby authorized, directed and empowered to levy the sums of money as set forth in Section 175 of this sub-title annually for the above purpose on the assessable property of said Allegany County. Before the County Commissioners shall be required to pay the aforesaid sums of money to the respective fire companies, the said Commissioners shall have the power to require the officers of said fire companies to appear before them and show to the satisfaction of said commissioners that any sums of money paid by the said Commissioners, to the said fire companies under this Act have been expended for the purposes set forth in this Act. In the event any of the fire companies hereinbefore mentioned cease to remain incorporated bodies or active fire fighting organizations, or have not used the moneys appropriated to them for the sole purposes set forth in this Act, then no further appropriation shall be made by the County Commissioners to any such fire company or fire companies.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared to be an emergency law, and necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety, and being passed upon a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

174. The County Commissioners of Allegany County are hereby authorized, empowered and directed to pay the sum of $13,100.00 annually .to the several volunteer fire companies so long as said fire companies remain incorporated bodies, for their benefit, said sum of money to be used by the respective fire companies for the purchase, repair or maintenance of fire fighting equipment or for the repair, maintenance or upkeep of buildings used by the respective fire companies.

175. Said payment shall be made on the first day of September in each and every year by the County Commissioners of Allegany County, and it shall be distributed as follows: To the Volunteer Fire Company of Bowman's Addition, the Volunteer Fire Company of Clarysville, the Volunteer Fire Company of Flintstone, the Volunteer Fire Company of District No. 16, the Volunteer Fire Company of Bedford Road the Volunteer Fire Company of Baltimore Pike and the Volunteer Fire Company of Ellerslie, the sum of $575.00 each; to the Frostburg Fire Department of Frostburg, Maryland, the sum of $1,175.00; to the Good Will Fire Company of Lonaconing, Maryland, the sum of $975.00; to the Potomac Fire Company No. 2 of Westernport, Maryland, the sum of
$850.00; to the Midland Fire Department, Inc., of Midland, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Mount Savage Fire Department of Mount Savage, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Barton Fire Department of Barton, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Luke Fire Company, Inc., of Luke, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the LaVale Volunteer Fire Company, Inc., the sum of $675.00; to the Community Volunteer Fire Department, Inc., of Cresaptown, Maryland, the sum of $675.00; to the Borden Shaft Volunteer Fire Company, the sum of $575.00; to the McCoole Fire Company, the sum of $575.00; to the Corrigansville Fire Company, the sum of $575.00; to Chapel Hill Hose Company No. 6 of Cumberland, Maryland, the sum of $150.00; and to Cumberland Hose Company, No. 1, of Cumberland, Maryland, the sum of $150.00.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, that this Act shall take effect June 1, 1947.
